Escargot by Dashka Slater

- Has This Little French Snail Got A Story For You! -

A French snail named Escargot is traveling to the end of the book because there is a beautiful salad, complete with croutons and a light vinaigrette dressing. He has a wonderful conversation with you about your favorite animal, asking you to give him a little push, and even giving you the chance to kiss him if you want.

Of course, he wouldn’t be a French snail if he didn’t throw in French words occasionally. So as he proceeds through the book you learn a little about him and he asks a little about you.

My Thoughts

What Concerned Me: Nothing

What I Liked Most:  Reading this book with even the worst French accent will make it fun for both kids and adults. Escargot tells you that he never wants carrots on his salad, but toward the end, he discovers there is a piece of carrot on the salad. So he makes a deal with you.
“If you will try it, I will try it, too. On the count of three, we will take a very, very, very small bite of the carrot.”
And surprise, surprise, it is so delicious that he might have forgotten to share. Which might be a good message for the picky eaters who are listening to the book.

All in all this book is Magnifique!
