What's All The Commotion About?
- What Was That Noise, Anyway? -
This picture book introduces South African animals in a fun verse. When the little fluffy guinea chick gives a little "cheep" it sets off a reaction. When the elephant hears the cheep it stomps the ground. This gets the kudu's attention who jumps and pricks the monkey high in a tree with his horns. This, of course, makes the monkey SCREAM and we all know what that means! It wakes the jackal out of his dream.
By now, you get the sequence of the "sky is falling, the sky is falling!" But it all comes to a halt when it reaches the wise owl who says, "STOP!" But how will he be able to calm the animals that by now are convinced they are being chased by an E-NOR-MOUS monster that's TWO TREES TALL?
What Concerned Me: Nothing
What I Liked Best: The soft watercolor and ink illustrations and the cute ending (although expected by most adults) will make this book a hit for little ones.
