dear DRAGON by Josh Funk

 - Pen Pals Can Be Quit Surprising -

Two different schools begin poetry and pen pal projects. Each school is given the assignment to write letters to their pen pals who are in the other school. But they have to be in the form of a rhyme.

Though we see by the illustrations that both pen pals are quite different, the pen pals only know what they read about each other.

Through their rhyming letters back and forth, they are becoming good friends. The teachers at each school inform the students that there will be a picnic in June so all the pen pals can meet. At that picnic we see two schools meeting for the first time. Each school is quite shocked to finally meet their pen pals.

What Concerned Me: Nothing

What I Liked Most:  This is a wonderful story about differences and friendship. It would be very good for discussions about preconceived notions.

So far, this is by far my favorite book by Josh Funk.
