I Don't Want To Be A Frog by Dev Petty

- Frog Is Determined That Being A Frog Is Not Okay! -

Frog wants to be anything but a slimy, wet frog.
This story is told in a conversation between father and Frog.
“I want to be a cat,” says Frog as he reads a book about cats.
Dad calmly replies that he can’t be a cat because he’s a frog. Frog wonders if maybe he can be a rabbit since he can hop.
“Nope,” says Dad, he doesn’t have long ears.
Besides, what’s wrong with being a frog? Frog replies that frogs are too slimy. Back and forth the dialog goes, in easy to read sentences, and large print.

But when a hungry wolf arrives, will that make any difference in Frog’s desire to be anything but a frog?

My Thoughts:

What Concerned Me: Nothing

What I Liked Most: Dev Petty’s dialogue between two frogs makes a good point about accepting who we are, and the illustrations are sure to make you smile.
