Rhino and Tickbird Discover Something Very Special

Friends Stick Together

 - Hannah E. Harrison -

- This Appears To Be Quite The Unlikely Friendship -

Rupert the rhino loves to read dictionaries, of all things! He also listens to classical music and eats cucumber sandwiches with no crust.

One day at school, out of nowhere, a tickbird named Levi lands on Rupert's nose. These two characters are total opposites. Levi is loud, burps the alphabet, and is fairly obnoxious.

It doesn't take long before Rupert has had his fill of Levi. Levi plays air guitar solos at inappropriate times in music class and grosses everyone out during lunch. Rupert even tries to get Levi nailed by the ball during dodgeball, but not much affects Levi's happy-go-lucky spirit.

When Rupert has had enough of Levi he tells him he wants to be left alone. Levi apologizes and shuffles off to go hide in a bush.

Whew! All is fixed now, or is it?

What Concerned Me: Nothing

What I Liked Most: Though this is not a new message, I loved that this fun story was filled with lessons without ever feeling didactic. This would be a great book to share and discuss with a classroom.
