Grandma's Purse by Vanessa Brantley-Newton

What's Inside The Magical Purse, Grandma?

When Grandma Mimi comes to visit her little granddaughter there are always treasures for the little girl to discover and share. Where? Grandma’s purse, of course. So the first thing to do when Grandma stops by is to ask to look inside her purse.

“I keep all kinds of things in my purse. You never know what you’ll want to have with you!”

So the discovery work begins with pulling out Grandma’s mirror and listening to her explain why it's in her purse.

“I use it to put on my lipstick so my lips are ready to give you a big kiss!”

Together they pull out and talk about extra earrings, hairpins, coin purse, scarf, and more.  And at the bottom of the purse is a gift with her granddaughter’s name on it. What could the gift be this time?

Grandma Mimi wears her white hair stacked high on her head. She is wearing heels, a patterned skirt, bright yellow turtleneck pullover, and large, round glasses.

My Thoughts

What Concerned Me: I’m not familiar with many grandmas who use hairpins, carry extra earrings, use a coin purse or scarf. This felt so retro that I wonder if little ones will relate to some of the things in grandma's purse.
3 STARS - Pretty Good

What I liked Most: The concept of sharing with grandma and having a tradition is awesome. I always love to see the interaction between grandparents and grandchildren.
