How To Be A Blogger And Vlogger in 10 Easy Lessons by Shane Birley

Great Introduction to Blogging, Vlogging, and Podcasting

This quick read has 10 basic lessons for those interested in sharing their thoughts on the Internet.

The format is extremely reader-friendly and therefore makes it easy to quickly take in information. The first part of the book helps the reader discover a topic to blog about. One that will make them excited enough to pass on that enthusiasm.

The following section emphasizes staying safe on the Internet. How to handle bad comments, using a pseudonym, not sharing your location, and the fact that addresses and phone numbers are things that shouldn't be posted and shared are among the topics discussed.

There is an introduction to a few social media sites and a little bit about each so that the reader might consider which is a good fit.

Information is given regarding writing a post, promoting the site, the type of pictures to include, warnings about age limits on social networks, handling bullying and online trolls, copyright rules, and much more.

This is very much a beginning book, but one that should give guidance and information regarding what is involved in blogging and vlogging (video blog or log).

Colorful illustrations add to the easy-to-read pages. The last full spread has a very good list of Useful Links and a Glossary.

My Thoughts

What Concerned Me: Because this really is a beginning book regarding blogging, the reader needs to understand that it gives an overview but does not help the reader create a blog/vlog.

What I Liked Best: This book has an exceptionally pleasing format and wonderful thoughts for a person considering a blog. I loved the fact that the pages are on a spiral binding making it very easy to have the book flat while reading.
