OTTER in Space by Sam Garton

 - Who Can Read An Otter Book And Not Fall In Love With Her? -

Otter Keeper takes Otter and her friend Teddy to a museum where they see a dinosaur skeleton and lots of other interesting things. Teddy and Otter’s favorite part is the room with exhibits about outer space. They see a moon rock, a simulated control panel where they can push buttons, and a video about the moon.

Otter is excited when they visit the museum's gift shop, but that excitement turns to disappointment when Otter Keeper says Other can’t buy everything she wants. So Otter ends up with a new spaceship. But what she and Teddy really want along with the spaceship is a moon rock.

So the next day after Otter Keeper goes to work, Otter and her animal friends try to figure a way to get a space rock. Giraffe offers to drive, but Otter’s pretty sure Giraffe doesn’t know how to do that.

Otter finally comes up with a plan,
“ . . . the best idea ever!”
Teddy and Otter will get their moon rock from the same place the museum did: the MOON!

My Thoughts

What Concerned Me: Nothing

What I Liked Most: So far I’ve loved all the Otter books, but I think this might be my favorite if it’s possible to have a favorite Sam Garton book.

The illustrations and story are humorous and show a great deal of imagination. While the first book, I Am Otter, introduced the characters and was very cute, this book shows another side of Otter’s personality. I highly recommend this second book in the I Am Otter series.
